Erin and Maggie are both registered nurses who first crossed paths over a decade ago at a hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. What started out as a professional relationship quickly turned
into a lifelong friendship.
Over the years, they’ve worked together in several nursing roles specializing in vascular access,
infusion, and oncology. Their hands-on experience with patients inspired them to create umi patientwear—thoughtfully designed clothing that prioritizes comfort and function.
With umi, Erin and Maggie are on a mission to improve the patient experience—not only for the
patients but also for those who care for them—one garment at a time.
the brand
Founded in 2023 by two registered nurses, umi patientwear was born out of a simple goal: to bring comfort and dignity to patients while making care easier for healthcare professionals.
During their time working in outpatient infusion, Erin and Maggie saw firsthand how patients often struggled to stay both covered and comfortable—especially when nurses needed access to devices like port-a-caths.
That’s when the idea for umi came to life. Inspired by “you and me”—symbolizing both patient and caregiver—umi designs functional, stylish clothing that supports people navigating medical challenges without sacrificing comfort or confidence.
Every piece blends fashion with function, empowering patients to live their day-to-day lives with ease.
